TRS promise to Muslims, a big joke!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao’s promise to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims, if the Telangana state is formed is being viewed as a big joke of the decade.

The TRS president gave the assurance while speaking at the massive congregation of Muslims held by Jamaat-e-Islame-Hind at Nizam College on Sunday, in a bid to get the Muslims support for the Telangana movement.

MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi pooh-poohed the TRS president’s promise, after the State High Court on Monday struck down the orders providing four per cent quota for Muslims. “Please don’t make such promises for political gains and hoodwink the innocent Muslims. We have been struggling to get the four per cent quota to be implemented because of intellectual dishonesty on the part of government,” Owaisi said, without naming KCR.

A large number of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) activists led by party MLAs stormed the State secretariat in protest against the High Court order. They demanded that the government take appropriate steps to restore the quota for Muslims.
